Behind the scenes...

For five weeks between November
and December 2004, a cast & crew of 30
came together in Grass Valley, CA, for the making of the independent film "Sounds."

When not acting in his role
as Deputy, Brennen Dolinshek
was one of several sound engineers
who assisted Gary Tomsic,
Director of Photography.

He wasn't just a
pretty voice... he was the Chief Sound Wizard.
We're talking about
Christopher Crites, AKA Rodney the Radio Announcer.

Mike to Nicole...
"I cross checked the meteorological reports for the region against the Global Economic Liability Report for
Misused Expenditures and I came up
with minus 10 degrees Celsius."
Nicole to Mike...
"In other words, it's gonna be
pretty freakin' cold."

And he wasn't just the Chief Sound Wizard, he
was the SFX makeup artist.

The mastery talent of Christopher Crites...

Assistant Director... 2nd Unit DP...
Sketch Artist... Sound Engineer...
Fixer of All Things...  Master Of The Universe...
Adrian Soto and his boom buddy Nicole.

Gotta love those stage performers
turned Sci-Fi film actors.

Gina Threshie on creating
SFX wardrobe....
"It's amazing what one can create with
red food-coloring, teriyaki sauce,
and frozen tundra."

Left to Right...
Devin Jewett, Robert Smith, John Large',
Brennen Dolinshek, Officer Mike, Sandy Stoltz,
Nicole Marcal, Christopher Crites

How long can a boom operator hold his hands in the air before he passes out?

"Miller, in my hand I hold a
bio-atomic sub-splicer."
"Styles, you're glasses are fogged up again,
it's an electric meat knife."

I think we might be over-stressing the actors...
... this one's been asleep for days.

We're out of batteries???
Again???

We think Devin had the most fun on set.

No, it was Roxie.

Never give up...
for hope is all we have in this
short, cosmic burp of life.

It happened at a place called Crows End.

Director and Producer as set designers...

Are the lines "outer layer of the
inner middle region... or the inner region of the outer middle layer?"

Seb demonstrates the art of cable wrangling.

Merrily we rolled along...

Theirs was a special bond.

Deputy D. Pewter
Agents Miller & Styles

Director...
"Can someone explain to me why I can't see anything on the monitor!!!"
Producer...
"Might be a network engineering problem."
On-Looker...
"Uh, did anyone check the plug?"

Don't go away folks, there's more...
