About The Composer...

I remember being captivated by monster movies at a very young age.  I saw all the classic Universal horror films of the 1930’s on late-night television, and I was hooked.  My parents (being very rational) explained to me that it was all fantasy; camera tricks, elaborate sets, make-up, and acting.  They never had a problem with what I chose to watch, so long as I understood the “art” of it all.

"Artistic” is a perfect word to describe these visionary films.

Full moons, deep shadows, rusty gates, and crumbling churchyards fill the frame. Early film directors like F.W. Murnau, James Whale, and Tod Browning pioneered a mythic, visual dialog that is still used today in modern filmmaking. The appreciation of that gothic aesthetic has endured into my adult life, and helped shape the person I am.

I am forever grateful to my parents for allowing me to begin a life-long love affair with things that go bump in the night.

Re-scoring “Nosferatu” was a labor of love for me, and I am very pleased to share it with you.  The film has traveled almost a hundred years to be with us on the 29th of October, 2005.  It is a story of good vs. evil; a dark fairy tale. Most of all, it is a brilliant work of art.  I hope everyone will enjoy it.
