Sounds - The Movie
“Take The X-Files and morph it with Monty Python, add a touch of Tim Burton, and toss in a hint of Close Encounters and you’ve got one wickedly wacky film.”
— Keith Turner, Turner & Associates, Writing, Editing, Public Relations
“Sounds is a first time independent film exhibiting top quality production value from opening to closing credits. Highly skilled photography and editing engages viewers in a fast-paced, riveting and satirical look at Ghostbusters meets The X-Files.”
— Ron Montana, Screenwriter, Same Page Films
"The cinematography is excellent, especially when I learned limited equipment was used. I was very impressed with the mood of expectation created for the viewers by Gary Tomsic, Director of Photography.”
— Herb A. Lightman, Former Editor in Chief, American Cinematographer Magazine
Sounds... an independent film written and directed by Ryan Humphries. Shot in Grass Valley, Auburn, Sacramento and Washington D.C. during the fall and spring 2004/2005. Casting by Sierra Traveling Actors using local talent.
This fictional thriller-comedy pokes fun at cinematic drama. A relaxing weekend in a peaceful country setting is all four college friends asked for, when a fiery ball of light smashes into earth from the far reaches of space. Can two governmental agents from Washington D.C. uncover the truth behind the mysterious sounds coming from the woods. Writer/Director Ryan Humphries combines two entertaining elements: Sci-Fi eeriness and comedic timing in this spoof about FBI agents on a mission to save a young girl and the human race.
Rated PG (some music and special effects may be too intense for young children).

Vigilante Cops... Gritty Never Looked So Clean!
Showing at 11:00 PM
October 13 & 14, 20 & 21, 2006
Old State Theater, Auburn
Sierra Traveling Actors is proud to support Producer/Director/Actor Sandy Stoltz, Director of Photography/Technical Supervisor/Producer James Todd, and Actor/Producer John Largé in the premiere of their first short film. Sam Insiane (Stoltz) and Ted Nugent (Largé) are two cops with nothing in common but a penchant for going after the lamest of criminals. After both get kicked off the force and are left homeless, they live in Captain Insiane's Blazer where life on the street gets real ugly with nail-biting snack withdrawals and edge of your seat shopping sprees. Including a colorful cast of local actors, artists and musicians, you'll love this bizarre cops vs. the good, bad and ugly guys comedy in the vein of "Upright Citizens Brigade" and "Tango and Cash."
Join the red carpet premiere October 13th. The insianity (no, that's not a typo folks) continues Fridays and Saturdays through October 21. Admission is free at each showing, but the Producers/Directors, cast and crew ask that you generously purchase concessions and support the State Theatre with heart. So grab a tootsie-pop and strap yourself in and learn why having the name Ted Nugent is the least of Ted's worries.
Rated PG (contains minor references to adult themes). Running time about one hour.

Two performances: 5:30 & 7:00 PM
Unity Hall, 1212 High Street, Auburn
Tickets: $5 general admission
(530) 885-2040
This 30 minute storytelling performance set to music arranged by Richanne Baldridge is currently appearing at private events. The performance features Joe Rangel in the title role of Captain Jack, Justin Marson as Edward The Swordmaker and Christina Threshie as Katherine Rose. Directed by Robert Smith, Captain Jack is based on the historical chronicles of pirate Jean Lafitte who sailed the Caribbean waters during the early 1800’s. Period costumes are designed by Gina Threshie. The performance also includes an original song created by local artists Brennen Dolinshek and Christopher Crites.
The tale of Captain Jack unfolds on stage as a father (the voice of Steve Gold) tells his two children (the voices of Morgan Baldridge and Skyler Leftridge) a bed time story. Produced by author and screenplay writer, Ron Montana, and Marian Ridolfi in partnership with Sierra Traveling Actors, this project started out as a blank piece of paper with the purpose of encouraging students to take their creative ideas and artwork “From The Page To The Stage.” Although meant to inspire young writers and artists, Captain Jack includes entertaining music and merriment for audiences of all ages. To have this program appear at your private event, contact Sierra Traveling Actors at (530) 885-2040.

S.K. Namanny once picked up a hitchhiker, who told him “Mathematics is the unspoken language of the universe.” Years later, in a totally unrelated brainstorm, Jason Adair thought of following up the success of “And the Children Shall Teach Us to Sing!” with a series of sketches connected by their treatment of seemingly oppositional cosmic forces: Logic vs. Emotion; Statistics vs. Intangibles; Love vs. Math. The team set to writing, and several painstaking months later, produced another comedic powder keg. In a recent interview, the pair admitted: “Neither of us knows anything about romance or mathematics, but we know how to make fun of people who think they do.” If laughter is the common denominator, romantics and cynics alike will enjoy Love and Math, a hilarious sketch comedy exploration of the forces that bind us together and tear us apart.
